The First Holiday Twinge
I love the holidays. That wonderful period of time that I think officially runs from Thanksgiving to New Years’ Day is my absolute favorite time of the year. Curiously, the holiday feeling hits me at different times each year. Sometimes, it never gets here (when bad things happen like when my mom died or the financial nuclear winter of 2005). This year, it came today and I have no idea what brought it on. Maybe it was talking to my boss last night. She said that our firm had an extraordinarily good year which bodes well for bonuses and such. I was looking on line for tickets to shows and hockey/ basketball games to take the kids to during their Christmas break (yours truly will be on vacation as well) so maybe that was it. My sister-in-law called last night to make plans for Thanksgiving. Maybe that set it off. Whatever it is, I’m not complaining.
During this period, it seems like every day is Friday. There is an anticipation that good things are around the corner. You look forward to seeing folks and going on outings and such. I’m really not doing the feeling justice but if you get this way, you know what it is.
I’m just glad it arrived early this year.
