I am heading to New York again next week (if you are a regular reader of this blog that is no big surprise) and will blog a little more on that maybe tomorrow. What I did want to mention was that, if you ever go to New York, make use of the subway. First, it is by far the most cost effective and far reaching way to see all of Manhattan and the outer boroughs. Second, there is fantastic artwork in the form of tile mosaics in the subway system (like the one above).
Here’s the entire mosaic. It’s at the 81st Street/Museum of Natural History stop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Below is another mosaic from this stop:
As you can see, some of the best art work in New York City is underground. I highly recommend this book which is a great guide and history to the New York Subway/MTA art.
