Today, I am officially unemployed. That doesn’t be I have nothing to do it just means that at the moment I don’t have a job. Allow me to elaborate.
I received an email from boss at my (now former) employer advising me that she had withdrawn as a member of the firm. After doing picture perfect CPR with cardioversion on myself, I got the details. Apparently she and the other managing partner had irreconcilable differences and she decided it was time to move on. I, of course, asked where she was going and did she have a spot for me. The answer was she was starting a new firm and looking for a few partners. Done and done.
So, I spend yesterday resigning from my job and working to put together the web site and email system for our new firm. Our pastoral associate, Brother LJ, who is a genius in all things web is doing the firm logo and web site design. I’m meeting with him later today. I also have to notify my clients that I have left the firm. They have uniformly asked to come along. I find that gratifying.
Regarding that unemployment, I was negotiating my equity piece and terms yesterday and the attorney is drawing them up so technically I haven’t signed an employment agreement just yet. That would make me unemployed right now. I’ve never been busier. I’ll update on the firm name and web site once we get that nailed down.
Life is never dull.
