Here’s a video Charity shot of Michael and Gabrielle this morning in the aftermath of the white death. It almost makes me want to be a kid again.

Shoveling snow

There is a wonderful column in today’s New York Times regarding geeks and Dungeon’s and Dragon’s which was sparked by the passing this week of Gary Gygax, the game’s creator. I will confess that I was an avid player of D&D in my high school years and did, in fact, have 12, 16, and 20 sided dice. I also never had the urge to worship satan so we can put some of those rumors to rest.
The most interesting think about the article to me was the flowchart, shown above (click on it for the full image). I did not go to the Sci-Fi side of the algorithm however, regarding the intense relationship with computers I must plead guilty. I have been a computer geek and junkie for the past 25+ years when I was first exposed to the Tandy TRS-80 with cassette memory drive. In those day, 64K HARD DRIVES were the norm. My Blackberry has multiple times the computing power of that first computer but it was definitely love at first sight. In high school, where the Apple II and Apple IIe were king I learned to program in BASIC and Pascal. As a side note, Visual Basic is a descendant of the original programming language. No, I did not date a lot but you’ve probably figured that out by now.
Anyway, I enjoyed the dissection of my inner geek today. I smiled a bit more knowing that my current job has me doing a fair amount of IT work and number crunching. I also know that my geek genes have passed on to the next generation. Different games, same geekiness.

We are having one service today at 2 PM. I told my pastor that it took an act of God to get him to one service. He said he still isn’t happy about it. I called Robbie Knox this morning and advised him that he would have to work on this trip, if only a little. He sounded disappointed (I kid).
It’s 13 degrees so I’m pretty sure this stuff isn’t melting today. This means I need to find a snow shovel. Happy Day!
