Taking the Day Off (Sort of)
As it’s Good Friday and my kids are on Spring Break, I’m going to attempt to take the day off today. I say attempt because I don’t do real well with taking time off. The problem is two fold- First, we are busy. Very busy and some of the services our firm provides are only done by yours truly. Often, these involve litigation or settlements to litigation so there is a time sensitive component. In short, when the work has to be done now there’s no putting it on hold. The second thing is related to the first. I don’t take much time off because I love what I’m doing. I am passionate about my work and really can’t imagine doing anything else. I was reading this post by Fred Wilson yesterday and just nodding my head in agreement. I try to carve out time for family but it can be a challenge.
So today, I’m taking my son and going to breakfast with my dad and then heading to my brother’s house. But I’ll be taking my blackberry with me. See, balance.
