Take Two

I am a major fan of Seth Godin who is the acknowledged guru of all things marketing.  I subscribe to his blog which always has tremendous insight.  He posits today, Who answers the phone.  It is a great take not only on first impressions but empowerment of employees/associates.  When we started our new company, one of the cool things we did is hire an answering service so that all of our calls were answer by a live body.  This is much more personal than the automated phone menu and keeps you from winding up on websites like this one.  It helps us because the folks at the service find out what the need of the caller is and pass it along so that we can hit the call intelligently and running.  It’s a great read for anyone whose first point of contact with others is the telephone. 

Starting on Sunday, we will begin working in our new field, Park Hill Apartments. This is our second go at apartment complex ministry, the first being quite successful. We have retained 10-12 kids who we dutifully (and joyfully) pick up every week at the Vernon Ridge/Meadow Ridge Complex. This go is going to be a litle different in that it will be adult focused in the form of an informal Bible group.  Three of us spent some time last night canvassing the area and passing out fliers. We had a very good response from a number of folks. I am looking forward to this new adventure for the next twelve weeks. Keep us in prayer as we go to the highways and hedges.
