Weekend Update

We had a very nice weekend.  I did (almost) no work.  Mainly, I did this because Charity accused me of being a workaholic.  I don’t think that’s the case but on a bet, I’m willing to step away from the laptop.  Saturday was spent mostly watching downloads and not much else.  Charity worked at a farmer’s market in Granville on Saturday on brought home a very nice muenster cheese for me (it is my favorite).

Sunday was another awesome weekend at church.  We had the Blunts from American Samoa, Samoa, and Tonga on Sunday morning and the Bucklands who are newly appointed metro missionaries to Cleveland.  I have known the Bucklands (and, dare I say, their parents) for years.  These are great folks.  Cleveland is a tough place to start a church because a) the government is completely incompetent and b) the economy is in the toilet.  Put those two together and it’s lather, rise, repeat.  A vicious cycle.  The cool thing about Cleveland is that it’s an amalgamation of so many cultures.  Columbus, which is significantly more economically robust, is also much more homogeneous.  The west side of Cleveland, where the Bucklands are headed, is full of Eastern Europeans (Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, and such).  Jonathan Buckland’s parents are career missionaries to the Czech Republic and Slovakia so he is very excited about immersing again into the culture.

A very good weekend indeed.  I’m looking forward to the short week this week and then camp next week.  That’s right, I’m looking forward to camp.  Mainly, because there’s only one week of it this year.
