Yom Kippur
Last night into today is Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. While I am (obviously) not Jewish, it isn’t a bad thing to set aside a little time for reflection and personal accountability to God. I am hugely interested in Judaism, especially its traditions regarding holy days. It is fascinating to me especially given the emphasis my faith (Pentecostal) puts on the early church which was largely Jewish. In fact, Pentecost is also known as the Feast of Weeks which was set for fifty days after Passover. I’m a bit of an Old Testament junkie, I’ll admit it. The New Testament is so much easier to understand if you are able to build it on the foundation of the Old Testament.
Those are my reflections today. As a side note, given the state of the market and economy in general, perhaps a little atonement is warranted.
